Your customers trust you with their personal information - and when one asks to be forgotten under GDPR or otherwise anonymised, it’s important to act quickly and responsibly to remove their identifying information from your records.
To make this process easier, we have introduced a “Clear Customer Details” button in the Cloud POS Back Office. With just a few clicks, you can anonymise personally identifiable details from a customer’s account - helping you to honour their request.
How do I use the Clear Customer Details functionality?
When logged into the Cloud POS Back Office, use the menu to navigate to Customers > Customers. Find the customer you'd like to remove data for, and double-click on their record to open it.
Once on the customer's record, you will find the button to clear their details towards the bottom-right of the screen in the ‘General’ section, next to the Print Courier Label option.

Using this button will remove the identifying data from each field on the customer's account, other than their Last Name - which will be set to ‘Data Removed’.

Reviewing & Saving the Changes
You are optionally able to review or reset the changes before confirming them using the blue button in the 'Save Pending Changes' modal, if you wish. This can be important, as the changes cannot be undone after they are confirmed.


Once you are satisfied with the changes, they can be confirmed by pressing the green ‘Save Pending Changes’ button on the modal, and at this stage the customer's record will now be made anonymous.

You are able to find all customers which have been cleared by searching for ‘Data Removed’ in the Customers page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this remove the customer's data in other areas of the platform such as Cloud MT or Customer Rewards?
No, the Clear Customer Details button will only remove the customer's identifying fields from their Cloud POS customer record.

Will this remove any of the customer's sales or communications history?
No, using the Clear Customer Details button will not remove any of the customer's sales or communications history. This will still be able to be viewed on the anonymous customer record after the details have been cleared.
