    How do I add or edit Brands?

    Brands are used to help group items within your retail system, which allows you to report on specific item types together. For example, you may want to report the sales of a particular brand, or change the pricing of all products from a brand.

    Brands are created and managed within the Back Office.

    There are two different ways to create a new brand – using the Brands menu, or when you initially create an item.

     


    Creating a new Brand via the Brands menu

    1) From main menu in the Back Office, expand the Items heading, then click on Brands:

     

    2) Click on New, enter the name of the brand you wish to create, then click Save:

     


     


    Create a new Brand when creating a new item

    As part of the process of manually creating any new item in the Back Office, you have to set the brand. See the Related Articles for guidance on how to create a new item.

    In this process, you will have the option of either selecting an existing brand, or adding a new brand.

    1)  In the Brands section, you can select the brand from the dropdown menu of existing brands:

     

    2)  Either use the scroll function to locate the brand from the list, or start typing the brand name to drill down the results.

    3)  You also have the option to create a new brand by typing in the name.  If the brand doesn't already exist, you will be offer the opportunity to create the new brand.

     

    4)  Click on the section titled 'Add [brand] as a new Brand' and this will open a pop-up where you can confirm and Create the new brand:

    5)  The brand will now appear in your list of brands, and can be added to any future products which you create.

     


    Editing an existing brand

    1) From main menu in the Back Office, expand the Items heading, then click on Brands.

    2) Click on the blue pencil icon next to the brand you wish to change.

    3) Make your changes, then click on Save.

    Note: This change will update all items within the brand automatically.

     


    Deleting an existing brand

    1) From main menu in the Back Office, expand the Items heading, then click on Brands.

    2) Click the red rubbish bin icon next to the brand you wish to remove.  Be aware that this step cannot be undone.

    Note:  You cannot delete a brand that has items assigned to it.  You would first need to reassign all items to another brand, which you can do using the Modify Item Detail Wizard.
