Cloud Reports // How do I get a historic Stock Valuation?

This guide will show you how to work out a stock valuation from a date in the past

Occasionally, you might need to know what the stock value was on a particular date in the past – you can combine the Current Stock Valuation report and the Item Movement Report to achieve this. Let's say we want to find out what the stock value was on 31st July 2024.

    1. Open the Current Stock Valuation report and click on Generate. Scroll to the bottom of the grid to find the current Total Stock Value. Make a note of this figure!

    1. Next, run the Item Movement Report from the date that you want to get the stock valuation for, until today's date. Scroll down to the bottom of the grid and make a note of the Extended Cost figure at the bottom.

If the total figure on this report is negative, that means you have sold the particular value of the stock, so you would need to add this total to your current stock valuation.

If the figure is positive, you've acquired this value of stock since 31st July 2024, so you'll need to remove this from the Stock Valuation total.

So with the figures above, I need to take the £10,455.98 away from the £1,161,743.24, which equals £1,151,287.26. This is the stock value on your chosen date.

    Or, in simpler terms…

For example, your Stock Valuation figure is £100,000 when run today.

Let's say your Item Movement Report total is £12,000. This means that your Stock Valuation on 31st July 2024 was £88,000.

If the total of the Item Movement Report is -£12,000 then your Stock Valuation was £112,000 on the 1st of April 2024.
