Customer Rewards // How do I customise my Rewards cards?

Your Customer Rewards scheme does not require physical cards in order to work. Your customers can earn and spend points both in-store and online simply by using their email address at the point of purchase. However, issuing your customer with a loyalty card can have a number of advantages:

    • It keeps your brand front and centre
A card sitting in someone’s wallet or purse is a little reminder of your store every day. They’ll see it whenever they pay for something, even if they’re shopping elsewhere. Emails can be read and forgotten, but a card tends to stick around.
    • It's easy for everyone to join in
Not everyone wants an app or regularly uses email. A card works for all kinds of customers, including people who are less confident with technology.
    • It builds a habit at the till/register
Handing over or scanning a card becomes part of the routine in-store, and reinforces a feeling of loyalty with your brand.

If you would like to issue your customers with Rewards cards, you have two options — physical Rewards cards and digital Rewards cards (in the Apple Wallet). You can use both, one or neither of these options, according to your preference.

    Physical Customer Rewards cards

If you wish, you can order physical Customer Rewards cards from Citrus-Lime (please see the FAQs for details). These will typically display your store logo / name on the front of the card and a scannable barcode on the reverse.

To issue the customer with their new card:

    1) Search for and set the customer in the Point of Sale:

    2) In the Point of Sale menu, navigate to the Customers section and click View Customer Rewards:

    3) You can now scan or type the customer's new card into the Scan/enter card number field. Click Set Card Number to confirm.

    4) You will see a confirmation message to confirm that ‘the Customer Rewards Card was successfully activated.’

From now on, whenever the customer shops with you in store, you can scan their card instead of searching for them in the usual ways. To do this:

    1) Either before or after you have added the item(s) to the transaction, click into the Customers section of the Point of Sale menu and click Search Customer Rewards:

    2) Either scan the card barcode or type in the card number:

The customer will now be set on the transaction/order.

    Good to know…

Even once a customer has been issued with a physical Customer Rewards card, scanning their card is not essential — they will earn points on qualifying purchases as long as they are set as the customer on the transaction (and their email address is present). In other words, if they visit you in store and you set them as the customer through a search, rather than by scanning their card, they will still earn points. The card is an optional extra.

Digital Customer Rewards cards (in the Apple Wallet)

You can also design a digital Customer Rewards card that your customers can store in their Apple Wallet.

You can configure the design in the Customer Rewards module

Navigate to Settings and click Rewards Card Settings:

From this screen, you can choose how your digital Rewards card will appear inside the Apple Wallet. You will see a live preview of the card design as you are making changes.

    • Title - this will display at the top of the digital card, and would usually be your store name, or your store name plus ‘Rewards’ or ‘Loyalty’
    • Small logo - this will display on the top-left of the card on smaller devices
    • Large logo - this will display on the top-left of the card on larger devices
    • Banner - this is the landscape orientation image in the centre of the digital card
    • Background colour
    • Text colour - the colour of the text for the Title, customer name and currency value
    • Label colour - the colour of the text for the words ‘Name’ and ‘Balance’

    Image Recommendations

For best results use the following image sizes:

Small logo: Maximum size 29 x 29 pixels

Large logo: Maximum size 58 x 58 pixels

Banner image: Maximum size 375 x 123 pixels

These sizes ensure the card displays correctly across different Apple devices.

Once you are happy with your design:

    1) Select the Active checkbox beside the Title, to activate your digital cards.

    2) Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

From now on, customers can add a digital Customer Rewards card to their Apple Wallet.

Customers must first sign in to their account on your website. They can navigate to their Account area where they will see their Customer Rewards balance and the option to add their card to Apple Wallet:

When the customer taps Add to Apple Wallet, the Customer Rewards card is added to their device.

    • If they do not already have a physical Customer Rewards card assigned to their account, a new unique card number will be created and assigned to their Customer Rewards account. This will be visible on the digital card in their Apple Wallet, as well as in on their account page in the Point of Sale, Back Office and Customer Rewards module.
    • If they already have a physical Customer Rewards card assigned to their account, this card number will be used for the digital card as well.

When they are shopping in store, customers simply open their Apple Wallet and you can scan their digital card at the till/register.

    Important:

A 2D barcode scanner is required. 1D barcode scanners cannot read the Apple Wallet barcode.

Can I change a customer's card number if their original one is lost, stolen or damaged?

Yes, absolutely. If you would like to update a customer's card number, you can do this by following the same steps used to assign the original card. Please see the ‘Physical Rewards cards’ section above.

If you change the Rewards card number in Cloud POS, this will also update on the customer's digital card in their Apple Wallet (if they have one), providing they have ‘Automatic Updates’ switched on. They can check this from the ‘Pass Details’ within their Apple Wallet:

If your customer is with you when you assign the new physical card number, and would like to see the update on their digital card straight away, just ask them to toggle the ‘Automatic Updates’ off and on again. This will fetch the update instantly.
