How do I set up and manage Novuna Finance on my Ecommerce site?

Novuna Finance is a payment option that can be added to your Citrus-Lime Ecommerce site, allowing your customers to spread the cost of their purchase at checkout. This article explains what the integration does, how to get started, and how to configure your finance options once the payment method has been set up by our Support Team.

This article covers the following topics:

How do I get started with Novuna Finance?
    Configuring your general finance options
    Configuring finance options per product
    Compatibility of Novuna Finance

What does the Novuna Finance integration do?

When Novuna Finance is active on your website, your customers will see finance availability information at several points in their shopping journey:

    1) On Find & Filter pages, products that are eligible for Finance will advertise this to customers in a purple banner:

    2) On Product Detail Pages, a finance calculator widget displays estimated monthly repayment options, helping customers understand the cost of financing before they add an item to their basket:

    3) In the cart, the finance calculator widget is shown again, so customers can review their options before proceeding to checkout.

    4) At checkout, customers can select Novuna Finance as their payment method. Selecting it launches the finance application journey, which is handled directly by Novuna. Once the application is complete, the customer is returned to your website and their order is confirmed automatically.

    5) A Finance link is shown in your website footer, directing customers to a dedicated finance information page.

Finance widgets and the payment option will only display to customers when the item or basket meets your configured eligibility criteria — for example, minimum and maximum basket value, and margin thresholds. You can read more about configuring these in the Configuring your general finance options section below.

Once a customer's finance application has been fully approved by Novuna, the order will download to the Cloud POS Back Office for you to action. We will not download the order into the Back Office until we have received this “signed” confirmation from Novuna.

You will see the finance application ID in the Comment field of the customer order in Cloud POS. This can be cross-referenced with the order in your Novuna portal. If you are still unsure of the status of a finance application, contact the Citrus-Lime Support Team for help.

Once you have tendered the order in the Point of Sale (either for despatch or for Click & Collect), Cloud POS will send a message to Novuna to inform them that the order has been fulfilled. This will progress the order towards the payout stage (where you receive the funds from Novuna).

How do I get started with Novuna Finance?

Setting up Novuna Finance involves an onboarding process with Novuna directly, followed by a technical setup completed by our Support Team. The steps below explain what you need to do at each stage.

For you reference: the integration is provided via a financial services company called NewDay. Your customers will see Novuna branding throughout their finance journey on your Ecommerce site, but you will have some interaction with NewDay during your onboarding process.

    1) Express your interest

Contact your Citrus-Lime account manager or our Support Team to let us know you would like to set up Novuna Finance. We will make an introduction between you and our Novuna contact, who will begin the underwriting and onboarding process directly with you.

    2) Complete the Novuna onboarding process

Novuna will guide you through their underwriting and contract process. Once this is complete, they will send you two sets of credentials: a live set and a test set.

Once you receive your credentials from Novuna, you must forward them to support@imegamedia.co.uk. This is a required step — without it, the technical setup cannot proceed.

    3) NewDay processes your credentials

Once NewDay (via Imegamedia) have completed their side of the setup, they will send an API Key and an Encryption Key to Citrus-Lime. These are the credentials our Support Team will use to connect your website to Novuna Finance.

    4) Our Support Team completes the technical setup

Our Support Team will configure the integration on your website. This includes adding your credentials and the required finance page and footer content (including your Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) registration details).

    5) Compliance check and go-live

Before going live, your website is reviewed by Novuna's compliance team. Once they have given approval, Citrus-Lime will request that the integration is switched to live mode. We will confirm with you once this is complete.

After go-live, you will need to configure your finance options in Cloud MT before finance widgets and the payment button will appear to your customers. See the Configuring your general finance options section below.

    Configuring your general finance options

Once the integration is live, you will need to configure your finance options before finance widgets and the payment button will be visible to your customers. You can also use these settings at any time to adjust how finance is offered on your website.

    1) Log in to Cloud MT and navigate to Site Management > Finance Products.

    2) In order to see a list of all the finance products available to you, uncheck this box:

    3) You can now choose the options you would like to activate on your Ecommerce site. For each product, you can configure the following settings:

Active — tick this to make the finance product available on your website. Untick it to hide it from customers without deleting the configuration.

Min Basket Value — the minimum order value at which this finance product will be offered. Orders below this value will not show this product as a finance option.

Max Basket Value — the maximum order value at which this finance product will be offered. Orders above this value will not show this product as a finance option.

Margin — the minimum margin percentage required for this finance product to be offered. Products or baskets below this margin will not show this product as a finance option.

    Here is an example:

    4) Once you have configured your settings, click Save Changes.

In addition to per-product settings, there are two global options that apply across all finance products:

Allow coupons on finance orders — when enabled, customers will be able to use coupon codes on orders paid with Novuna Finance. Disable this if you do not want coupon codes to be combinable with finance.

Allow finance on sale products — when enabled, finance options will be shown on products that are currently on sale. Disable this if you do not want to offer finance on discounted items.

At least one finance product must be set to 'Active' before any finance widgets or the payment button will appear on your website. If you have saved your settings but cannot see any finance features, check that at least one product is active and that your basket value meets the minimum and maximum thresholds you have set.

    Configuring finance options per product

As well as setting global and per-finance-product thresholds, you can also control whether individual products are eligible for finance. This allows you to exclude specific items from finance entirely, regardless of your global settings.

    1) In Cloud MT, navigate to the Item Search and find the product you want to update. Click Edit to open the product details.

    2) Scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will see the option to Block Finance. Check this box to exclude the product from finance options:

    3) Click Save Changes to confirm.

    Compatibility of Novuna Finance

    • Novuna Finance is compatible with Click & Collect orders. When a customer selects Click & Collect as their fulfilment method and chooses Novuna Finance at checkout, their collection address details are passed through to Novuna as part of the finance application automatically — there is nothing additional you need to configure.
    • Novuna Finance is not available when a customer selects DPD Ship to Shop as their delivery method. This is a compliance requirement from Novuna. In this case, the Novuna Finance payment option will not be shown to the customer at checkout.
